What can 100 years of transportation, community building and innovation teach today’s students?

A Road Well Travelled, AMA’s free Centennial exhibit, gives students an experiential way to explore Alberta’s history, with curriculum connections for Grades 2 through 6 and Grade 8.

The exhibit will be open in Edmonton’s west end from Sept 26 – Nov 8, 2026 and January 9 – 24, 2027.  Admission is free. Visit the AMA website for exhibit details and operating hours.

A Field Trip with Alberta Curriculum Connections

Through stories and artifacts from AMA’s first century, the exhibit supports classroom learning related to history, citizenship, trade, infrastructure, technology, safety and environmental responsibility.

Students can explore how transportation has influenced where Albertans live, how communities grow and how people respond to changing needs.

Educators can use the experience to begin or extend conversations about:

  • How trade and transportation help communities meet their needs
  • The historical significance of Alberta landmarks and infrastructure
  • The role of roads in connecting communities
  • Individual and collective responsibility for safety
  • Citizenship, civic participation and community action
  • The relationship between technology, human activity and the environment
