Program Participation Terms & Conditions
By logging in and accessing the School Safety Patrol online portal (the “Portal”), I understand and agree to the following as it pertains to my use of the Portal and my school’s participation in the AMA School Safety Patrol Program™ (the “Program”):
Use of This Portal
- I am one of the representatives of a school that is part of the Program and I am accessing the Portal as part of my work with the Program.
- I represent that I have obtained all necessary authorization and consents from my school to be a user of the Portal.
- Subject to the AMA Privacy Policy, I consent for AMA to use the contact information provided in my school’s user profile on the Portal to communicate with me and my school about the various school initiatives provided by AMA, including but not exclusive to the School Safety Patrol program.
Commitment to the Program
- Our school commits to be a participant in the Program for the current school year.
- I will review the most recent copy of the AMA School Safety Patrol Supervisor Handbook (the “Handbook”) and will ensure my colleagues also involved in the Program will do the same.
The Program is for Certain Students Only
- This Program, and the equipment and resources provided by AMA, are intended for student participants only.
- Our school will invite primarily grade 5 and 6 students to volunteer to be Patrollers. If we wish to have grade 4 students as Patrollers, we must obtain pre-approval from AMA. While acting as Patrollers, grade 4 students must be under the direct supervision of a trained adult at the crosswalk at all times.
- The Program is not open to adults to act as Patrollers. The Program is also not intended to be used to direct traffic, enforce legislation or help with parking on or around school property.
Some Rules of the Program
- Safety comes first and foremost when it comes to our students, volunteers, and staff[CH1] .
- My colleagues and I understand that AMA will provide training assistance, support, advice, equipment and supplies as part of the Program. However, our school is responsible for the operation and management of the Program, which includes training, scheduling, supervision and frequent assessment of the Patrollers while on crosswalk duty.
- My colleagues and I will adhere to and enforce the standards and practices set out in the Handbook to our AMA School Safety Patrollers (the Patrollers) and any adults assisting with the Program.
Removing from the Program
- I understand that AMA may withdraw its support and discontinue the Program for our current school year should AMA, acting in a reasonable manner, determine that:
- Our school does not operate the Program in a safe manner for Patrollers, students, or other persons;
- We do not abide by the Handbook;
- AMA determines that the crosswalks surrounding our school are not safe and suitable for the operation of the Program;
- The Program is not needed and does not benefit our School. For example, if there are ample safe, automated pedestrian crossings near the school; or
- The actions or conduct of any adult associated with our school’s Program harms or negatively affects the Alberta Motor Association or AMA School Safety Patrol brand or reputation.
